Pictures have emerged online of Martin Clunes filming a new series of Doc Martin in Port Isaac. Clunes who plays the grumpy doctor revealed that there would be a ninth series, even though the show was due to end after series 8.
The actor told the Radio Times: “We start making series 8 in spring and it’ll probably be on air in the autumn, So series 8 is the second to last”.
The ITV drama which started back in 2004 has become a huge hit and follows the everyday life of the grumpy surgeon who moves from London to the fictional Portwenn in Cornwall after developing a fear of blood. The doc learns about village life in Portwenn as the local GP for the area and upsets the residents with his lack of social skills.
The show which is made by Buffalo Pictures, a production company owned by Martin Clunes and wife Philippa Braithwaite is set to be turned into a US version by Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman when the series has finished here in the UK.
